Recognising that (a) we are based in the agricultural county of Lincolnshire and (b) many of our clients are involved in aspects of agriculture and food production, we held an on-line panel event on 2nd November 2023 to discuss issues currently affecting UK agriculture. We were grateful to be joined by Amy Cowdell, a specialist in agricultural property law and a partner in Shakespeare Martineau, solicitors, Mark Chatterton, a partner handling agricultural clients in accountants and business advisers Duncan & Toplis, and William Burgess, chairman of Burgess Farms, specialists in vegetable growing.
Our discussion revealed the threats that food growers in the UK face and highlighted that new technology, while assisting in some aspects of agricultural business, cannot provide all the solutions.
